Physician Assisted Suicide (Final Paper)

Physician assisted suicide is illegal in every state except Oregon. If you live anywhere else in the United States, you must suffer a long painful, dreadful death. Just pull the plug! I think a person should have the right to chose when they want to die.
If I was told, “There is nothing else possible we can do for you, we have worn out possibilities to save your life. Eventually you will dwindle down to nothing and will be unable to eat, breathe, speak, or walk on your own ever again,” those words would not only scare me but I would wonder how my family would be able to cope. If I were a resident in Oregon, all I would have to do is have a conversation with my physician about the lethal dose I will take to end my life and suffering.
All physicians swear to the Hippocratic Oath. The Hippocratic Oath enjoins physicians to act solely for the good of the sick. In certain rare cases modern medical care is not able to ease the physical and mental suffering of a terminally ill patient and the doctor may be doing more harm by keeping the patient alive against his wishes than by helping him to die. (Valla, Tony).
The physician provides the means for death, most often with a prescription, “The patient, not the physician will ultimately administer the lethal medication.” (Clarence H. Braddock III, MD). “Physician assisted suicide generally refers to a practice in which the physician provides a patient with a lethal dose of medication, upon the patients’ request, which the patient intends to use to end his or her own life” (Graham, Roger).
In 1997, Oregon voters reasserted their desire to make physician assisted suicide legal. (Cunningham, Annette). Under the Death with Dignity law, a person who required physician assisted suicide would have to meet certain criteria. The person: must be terminally ill; have six months or less to live; make two oral requests; one written request; convince two physicians that she/he is sincere, is not acting on a whim, and that the decision is voluntary. He/she must not have been influenced by depression; be informed of “the feasible alternatives, including, but not limited to comfort care, hospice care and pain control.” If the individual meets all of these requirements, then they would be able to obtain a prescription of a barbiturate that would be sufficient to cause a death. The ultimate decision to take the medication would be left to the individual. (Humphrey, Derek).
If a patient's doctor does not participate in the act, how can they get a prescription? The patient must find another M.D. or D.O. licensed to practice medicine in Oregon who is willing to participate. The Oregon Department of Human Services does not recommend doctors, nor can they give the names of participating physicians or patients due to the need to defend confidentiality.
Just pull the plug! I would want the option to spare myself and my family the pain and suffering of a slow death. I feel it is time for every state to consider the compassionate law of Death with Dignity. A revision of the Hippocratic Oath may be in order to allow physicians to assist his/her patients to choose their time of death. If the ability to cure is out of the physician’s hand, a person should be able to choose the next course of action.

My first year of college

I can not believe I am already at the end point of my first year in college! I still have memorize from last year, planning prom and thinking how college was going to be so hard. I had such a great college year. I did very well in all of my classes. I think the work is not that hard, you just have to study and take your time to read.
I do not miss my high school at all because it was not serious. When I mean serious I mean the work was not important, test were not important, and there is a high rate of drop outs.
I enjoyed St.Johns University so much! I love the campus, the professors, the easy schedule, the environment, etc. My favorite moment in St. Johns University is when I came here for three nights for orientation. I met so many nice people, I had a great time, and everything was free. I love the food here, and how there is such a good variety.
I learned more this year than all four years of high school. I read more text books in more year that I never did in four years.
I love the library the students have, and how we have a writing center. It is all worth the money we spend on tuition. I can see how my professors really care and spend so much time with us. They wait until the last minute to dismiss the class.
I now see that college years will go by so fast, and I can nor wait until next semester!

Electric Long island Ice tea

Have you ever had an electri long island ice tea? I am in my english class right now waiting for the professor, effi, her friend and I were talking about the Dominican Republic and how drinking in the Dominican Republic the legal drinking age is 18!
This is amazing, I do not have an opinion on drinking age, I do not drink because I have no tolerence what so ever. I can get drunk off of one beer! i know I am horrable. I do not like the taste of alcohol, it is just a bit to strong for me and I do not like getting a huge mygrane head-ache.
I had a long island ice tea, which is a name of a drink. It was so strong and it tasted really bad.
Ok well now the professor walked in and I made a stupid comment becuase I am not paying attention!

Value.

What does value mean to me?
this is a question that was just asked in my classroom and I want to write about it. value, every one has their own opinion. I think that value has to do with something Good. Such as I am attending St.John's University, and therefore I am going for a degree and therefore my education will have value.
This girl in my class was talking about the value of her car. But the value of her car can be if it is crashed then what value does it have? however if the car is all hooked up and has hot seats, and nice rims, than the value of the car is I guess great?
How about a value of a house. The value of a ugly house still has value, Oh my God I just need to get out of this class!
Anyway value is value and I have my own opinion.

Two More weeks!

Two more weeks of school! Thank god! I registered for my next semester classes and I am very excited. I am getting all freaked out because I do not want to go threw all this schooling! On the other hand my first year of college is over! and all I have is three more years.
I heard that three years will go by so fast! I can not believe it! I do however believe that this semester was a lot better than last semester! I think it was the way my schedule was, I had off on Fridays, and I am taking six classes, which was not bad at all!
I am in philosophy class right now and he talks and talks forever and this is how I get to write in my blog, but wow this guy is just talking and talking! I charged my battery for tomorrow's class for English.
There is one more hour left which is great but it is so hard to pay attention.
I can't wait to go home! I just want to get out of here and go on the cruise already!

Tango.

The final show of I Love New York, My favorite show. I can not believe it, Tango (one of the guys competing for New york) won. He went up against "chance" who in my opinion should of won. I think that by her picking Tango was very wrong, because New York was always making fun of Tango and in the end she picked him.
In my opinion that the show was going on, I think that New York's mom made a big influence on picking Tango. I think that Tango and New York's mom had a little thing going on and so he was chosen.
I am very upset because Tango was always going to get kicked off, every show! so how did he last the longest and won?
I can not understand it. Tango even proposed to New York! How can you propose to a girl that has been hooking up with all these random guys and sharing feelings for other guys?
I think that Tango was very desperate, I also think that non of the guys were worth her heart! I hope they make a New York 2! it was such a great show!

my nieghborhood

I was born and raised in Little Neck New York. It is known for being an upper class neighborhood. It is not popular at all, it is one of the smallest cities in New York. Many people that live in Little Neck are retired. If they are not retired they can retire tomorrow, and still live comfortably for the rest of their lives.
There is one dentist, one pizzeria, one person that cuts every ones lawn, you get my point? one Hair salon that everyone goes to, just to name a few examples.
All of the kids in Little Neck go to P.S.221 and Middle School 67 and then they go to Benjamin Cardozo High school. All of the kids in my grade went to prom together and we called our limo, The Little Neck Limo!
We were all so proud that we went to prom together.
All of our parents know each other, and the neighborhood is so small you that a lot of us live no more than three blocks away from each other.
Little Neck is know for having "mini Mac Mansions." This is because every ones house is huge, but not as big as a mansion like you would see in Long Island, or The Gotties House.
I love my neighborhood, it is very expensive to live in Little Neck, but I will try to buy a house in Little Neck because I would love to raise my children here.

finding a job.

One day I was sitting in my Theology class, bored, I was just figuring out how much money I had to make to buy a home. Well, the thought came into my head when I was adding up my hours for this week and I just had the calculator with me, so I just started writing down numbers. Well, I figured out that I would need one hundred thousand dollars coming into the house hold per year. I was thinking if I made one thousand a week and so does my boyfriend. I figured out that I can buy a eight hundred thousand dollar home with my salary. With my boyfriends salary would have to go to the food and the cars and the furniture, all those things that you need, lighting, cell phone, I don't know all of that stuff. Now what I am doing is helping my boyfriend find a good job. I want him working sixty hours a week, sorry I am getting so distracted I am watching the news and hearing two people bar fighting, and it is just distracting me. Ok... So yes we will both be working sixty hours a week and making good money and live a good life. I spent three hours today looking for a good job for my baby. =D

Oh wow! Did you hear????
A cruise ship sank in Athens Greece today. It sank in the Greek Islands. That is so scary! I am going on a cruise that goes to that place. Thank god it is not the same ship. I think they said it was due to a valcanoe. But come on how scary!!! I heard that everyone but two people survived. You know what is funny?? I have not herd anything on the news! I found this out through my co-worker ar work. We both saw a video, I thought it was fake because....Oh look now I am hearing something from the Channel 5 news. That hardly said anything! but this is soo scaryy!! I am going to have night mares now!
I can not believe it is true! this is crazy! I am so scared!

my speech to my dad

I arranged my very personal poem to my father. So here it goes.
You are the end of the rainbow, my pot of gold,
You are the sprit of Christmas, the star above the tree,
Only a heart as dear as yours would give so unselfishly.
The many things you have done,
All the times that you were there…you were always there.
We don’t have to search deep down we know you care….
Your life is always busy,
But you always find time for us,
Your fearless face,
Always makes me feel safe.
Richly blessed is how we all feel,
Papa, I know you love to hear this, day and night
It never gets old,
Papa I love you, and always will,
There is no other relationship like mine and yours,
We have done so much together, and there is still more to come.
I don’t know how your sixty years old,
I feel like if I brought out a basketball hoop, me and you would be shooting baskets and having a good time.
You taught me how to walk, to ride my bike, drive my car, and the value of education.
You have taught me so much; the best thing I love about you is that you always have an answer! There is never “I don’t know or I’m not sure” you are book smart and common sense smart and you are always fair, there are not that many people who are like that. You know how to use your head, hands, mouth all at the same time! There is honestly no one better than you!
You are remarkable,
I love you papa…and I know that I will be just like you…in a couple of years!
I hope you are proud, I am so proud of mommy, she always does whatever you want, she never saids no to you! She keeps the house spotless, the refrigerator full, and the clothes looking new. Joseph, he is doing so much for you! He graduated from Hofstra, he is learning the business, and he wants the best for you he is literally by your side 24/7. Victor is you little baby, your little man, he dances just as good as you, and he’s slick with his words just like you. ME im Always on your side! No one can defeat me and YOU! We can hold hands and No One Will ever walk threw!
I know that you are proud, I can see it in your heart, I hope you enjoy your birthday, it’s your age that is going up, but you are the same person that made me, and you are the same person that is standing in front of me!
I LovEEeE YouuuU!! HaPPyYYyY BirTHdaYY!!!

My Father's 60th Birthday!!

I just thoguht of a topic to write about, and it is somthing that happend last night, My father's 60th Birthday! My brothers and I threw my father a surprise party at Verdi's in Westbury Long Island.
It was an amazing party. I wrote a great speech that I am very proud of, now that I think about it I am going to post it on my page.
Anyway, my family, fifty people came to help us celebrate this party. It was great, I hired a DJ, which I know though a friend. He (The DJ) Brought two girls (dancers) and they came out in a carribean outfit. They looked so pretty, they had fruit such as grapes, and a pineapple, very pretty! I have to put a picture up. Then the girls came in a 70's outfit. the girls madfe the party a lot of fun! It was so good, and in the end they played We are Family! It is a great song, because I love my family, they mean so much to me and I wish I can see them more, but it is really hard. The great part was that my father was so surprised! The look on his face was priceless! he was still in shock when we surprised him. He had great speeched told to him, everyone had a memeory about my dad. It was such a good party!

drop a class?

I have to write about something I was thinking of. My friend wants to drop a class at St.Johns University. I feel so bad because she likes the class and she feels like the class is really easy. She was telling me how the teacher told her that she will get no more than a C after the final, that means even if she does god on the final she will get a C. I told her she should drop it, I think it is really unfair when a teacher tells you something discussing, like you are guaranteed to fail. I mean this girl is such a good girl and she goes to class, I feel so bad. I mean what happened to the kids that sleep, or do not show up!
I hate this about school! I can't understand how the test come out of the text book, why do you HAVE to show up to class? it is observe.
I don't understand this school, you know at first I liked it but now I am starting to think that they are nice in the beginning and then mean in the end, It's not fair and it is not good, but things happen. I always say this, if I was a teacher I would not want some one to fail, I don't know what to say. I feel bad. I told her that Spring Break is coming and if she does not want to drop it to do extra credit. I hope for the best for her.

ITALY

This is a picture of Italy that I found somewhere on the Internet! Doesn't it look beautiful? I think Italy is so pretty, even from far away it looks breath taking! The water is so much different from the water in New York. It looks so clean and the air look so nice and moist, not like here where it is hot and humid and you feel like you are going to die!
I can't wait to go here in THREE MONTHS!
Yes I am counting down the days =D

The Cruise Ship!

I am so excited...Three more months I am going on this Ship! It is called "Brilliance of the seas" It leaves from Barcelona, Spain and travels to Italy, France, Turkey, Greece, So many beautiful places! I can not wait! We are going on a twelve day cruise (Me my boyfriend, his parents and his sister) I just can't wait! I am paying it off too!
Isn't it beautiful?

NEVER ENDS!

You know...It just never ends!
I can't understand, I took the whole weekend to do all of my reports and projects, and it just does not end! I went to my Monday and Wednesday classes and they all have these extra credit assignments and one a few review papers and test!
It just does not end! One day i am like. 'YEAH no more work! I look at my syllabus and everything is done." The next day I go to class and there is more work, and more extra credit...Students that don't show up have to do five page long papers and people that do show up to class have to write 1 page papers. When does it end? You know the exciting part is that school is ending in four weeks, the sun is out, its nice and warm outside!
And the cruise is in Three MONTHS =D
Something to look forward to!
Oh guesss what! I am meeting up with my freshman advisor soon! He is the worse! i wrote a journal about him! YAY I can't wait (Exaggerating)

OUTLINING.

EXAMPLE OF AN OUTLINE:

Outlining
It might prove useful to organize the ideas that suggest themselves during the freewriting and clustering exercises into a preliminary outline form. It is possible to write a paper without an outline, but it might suggest that your paper lacks organization if it proves impossible to write an outline that describes the thinking process behind your paper. Outlining never hurt; how helpful it is depends on what kind of thinker you are. At the least, a tentative outline can suggest areas in which your paper needs additional work or supporting details to bolster main ideas or, on the other hand, areas which have too much emphasis and need to be pruned down to avoid an imbalance. It might also help you to see how ideas are related and where connections or transitions are necessary between sections of your paper. Furthermore, the outline will help you visualize how ideas fit within the thesis statement that is taking shape in your mind. Remember that your outline is only a tentative skeleton to hang ideas on; limbs can be lopped off or added as the writing proceeds. Your instructor might require you to submit a formal outline for approval before you write your paper or to go along with your final draft. If that is so, this tentative outlining process will serve you well later on.

CLUSTERING

Clustering
Clustering is similar to another process called Brainstorming. Clustering is something that you can do on your own or with friends or classmates to try to find inspiration in the connection between ideas. The process is similar to freewriting in that as you jot down ideas on a piece of paper or on the blackboard, you mustn't allow that ugly self-censor to intrude and say that your idea (or anyone else's) is dumb or useless. Write it down anyway. In Clustering, you jot down only words or very short phrases. Use different colored pens as ideas seem to suggest themselves in groups. Use printing or longhand script to suggest that ideas are main thoughts or supportive ideas. Don't bother to organize too neatly, though, because that can impede the flow of ideas. Don't cross anything out because you can't tell where an idea will lead you. When you get a few ideas written down, you can start to group them, using colored circles or whatever. Draw linking lines as connections suggest themselves.
Below is a finished example of Clustering. It is printed here with permission of the aforementioned Thruston Parry

MY Journal.

This is a journal in response to Prof. Marsh's comment.
I must say that I have heard in the past that the way I write expresses my voice. Another words when I write " I hate you!!!!!'
With all the explanation points...You know how I am talking. If I write "VANILLAA" You know that I am screaming in joy of VANILLA!
So prof Marsh thinks that I should not do that. I think that is wrong!
This is a journal! MYYYYY journal! (you see what I mean)
But seriously! This is my journal this is how I write, this is my writing! What I put in my journal doesn't make my grade! It's about the Quality of my writing. There is no list of "Qualification" So why is he telling me how to write. he said "PRETEND A DEAN IS READING THIS"
I am not cursing or sounding trashy! You know I gossip so much when I write that I don't even care if the person that I wrote about is reading this! Who reads this anyway? I write One journal a day..Some people write One a week, and no one reads that!
I can BET that no more than Three people read my journal (s) So I am going to write the way I want to write. Thanks for you criticism, but this is a jornal, You don't have to read it. Matter of fact stop reading!
---I am just kidding, sometimes I write and my mind gets all crazy, when I write in a journal I feel like I am writing to myself and having a conversation to myself. It makes me feel good about what I am writing. I don't talk to anyone about my problems and my feelings, I write it!

bad day at work.

Have you ever had a bad day at work? Today I had a bad day at work. My office manager, Stacey went on vacation and they left this other lady in charge. Her name is Arlene, if Arlene reads this, I do not care! She is the worst! I can not stand her! She is so bi-polar! She is nice to you one day, Kisses your ass the next day and acts totally rude the next day, then ignors you the day after. This is how she is! Five different personalities a week!
I can understand that she is the oldest in the office, but they left the WRONG person in charge! When Stacey went on vacation, she left me hours and things to do when I come into work. So I come into work today and Arlene tells me that I have to file the charts, pull the charts, and fix the charts. That is Jaqulines job! Why do I have to do someone elses job? what is she going to do when she comes in? Sit behind the desk...Which is my job to sit behind the desk!
You know I told them that I need the hours and I need the money and they sent me home earlly because there was nothing to do. She made me do everything fast, and she kept saying things like "oh you have nothing to do?" She sees what I am doing and she has to say that! Then she's like "Don't help margo!" thats not fare! I hate that! My job is to help her!
I make the charts nice and neat, in order beautiful! You name it! And she has to tell me what to do!
She is so annoyig I hope she gets fired! I hate that jerk! she even had the nerve to call me friday night and complain about Margo and Stacey and telling me how some one is going to be replace "HINT HINT" It's definitly not me! I go there 5 days a week, NEVERRRR came in late, I did my entire job! I never leave anything for tomorrow like she does.

ROYAL CARIBBEAN

http://www.royalcaribbean.com/

CAnt WAiTTT!!!!!

=DD

EASy WAY out

I can agree that everyone wants an A..but they don't know what it takes to get to that grade.
I can also agree how students just want to pass...they do not care what the grade is...as long as it is NoT and "F" its fine.
I think the work is easy to say..but hard to do. In order to get an "A" you have to do good the ENTIRE semster.
I see how students start off bad...and then do well and expect and "A." Some students think they can miss the first couple of weeks of school and miss a test here and there and still get that "A" because they decided to show up two or three weeks straight.
I do not think its right for a professor to say "your garde is based on improvment.I think the grade should be based on the entire semester.
I have seen it happen, when a student NEVER showed up the first couple of weeks, but after the mid-term, that is when they started trying. I have sene the teacher say "wow, great improvment!"...yeahh OK..more like nice try!
I agree with #10! DONt look for the easy way out.

a budget!

OK, so I have a budget.
My father does not want me going on this cruise in July with my boyfriend, because of obvious reasons! I am daddy's little girl, I am the only girl, I bring so much life to my family...my father just does not want me to go!
I want to go so bad! I told my dad that I would do anything and everything to go! I am dead serious I will do anything!
The cruise is going to cost about three thousand dollars. It is a twelve night cruise. It sails from Barcelona Spain...to Greece..Italy..Turkey..I don't remember but it goes to a lot of places. The plane ride from here(La Guardia Airport) to Italy will cost about fifteen hundred dollars. That is four thousand Five hundred dollars. Than it is costing about seven hundred dollars for insurance, one thousand dollars for a rent-a-car when we are in Italy...and about one thousand dollars in spending money.
This trip is costing SEVEN thousand dollars! so now I have a budget of seven thousand dollars!
My father is putting down three thousand dollars. My boyfriend and I have to come up with the rest. Every two weeks I am going to have to give my dad Four hundred fifty dollars...by July first, he will have the four thousand dollars!
I have not spent too much money on gas...food...clothes...you name it!
I have been figuring out how many days a week I have to work to make this amount of money. I can do it!
I already made my first payment! I think it is worth it! I can't wait to go
=DD

i want a "good grade"

I want a good grade. First off i have to say..why is my font different?
i did not change it, it did it on its own...weird computer.
anyway! I want a good grade! You know I come to class every single day, I try so hard not to miss one single class! I participate and do my work. I can honestly say that I hate test! I always forget things, and I can not remember everything. Whenever I get a review sheet, it usually has fifty broad questions, which is annoying. You never know how Specific the teacher is until the test day comes, you have the test in your hand and say "wow, I didn't know I had to study this part!"
That is so annoying, when the teacher marks questions wrong because you were not specific enough, or because you forgot to mention ONE thing...it is totally wrong.
I can not understand how some students show up SOMETimES and they get a better grade than me! For all I know they probably cheat! I hate that! I come in EVERY dAy, EaRLLy, I do my homework and participate, and all its worth is 10% of the final grade.
I can't see how test are 75-80% of a final grade.
Just because I score an 80...doesn't mean that I didn't study hard...it means "there is just too much stuff too remember!"
I can't stand it when I come to class everyday and people who sleep during the entire class, come in late...they do better than me! I can't believe it! they should have attendance 30% of the grade...Test 30% of the grade...Homework, projects and papers 30% of the grade..and 10 points for participating!
If I were the teacher I would give everyone the benefit of the doubt...I think that when students fail, it gives a bad look towards the teacher..maybe the teacher was too strict...too much work...too hard..
the worst is when you do SOO much work...and it's still not good enough..I hate that! oh and there should be 10 points extra credit in every class!

Maestros

This is Steve and I at that party that I mentioned in my journal.
We went to Maestros on Saturday, March 3,2007. I was honored for wining a pagent.

I am so happy and Excited!
WE look adorable!

CrUiseeee =D

i am so excited! It is official!! I am going on a Cruise in JuLY!
I am so happppppyyy!! it took sooo long to finallyyy get my dad to agree and pay for a ticket for me to go with my boyfriends parents to Italy. Well of course my boyfriend and his sister, Maria are both going to. I can't believe it, after all the crying and screaming and arguing it finally pays off!
I work so hard I know I totally deserve this! I can't wait to go on this trip! It is about sixteen weeks away! I am definitely counting down the days!
I am so happy! I save up all my money and it finally pays off!
this is incredible!
I can't believe my dad said yes! I can't explain how happy I am right now!
I can't wait to tell the entire world and all of my Friends how happy I am.
I am so serious this took about a year to plan for this trip and it is official!
I hope they don't have any second thoughts or anything!
I would be upset and just take money out of the bank and spend it all!
but let's not think about that!

bad dream.

For some werid reason I have been having these times when I wake up and I amagine that I am late for school or work. It is the weriedest thing. I always have this fear that my phone turns off and my alarm clock won't go off and then I feel like I am late for work.
I am on Spring Break and I have been waking up at 6 on Tuesdays and Thursdays and I get up like "oh my god I am going to be late for school." And then I look at the clock and then i'm just like wait but I dont have school...I am off.
It is just so werid, and I spend the rest of my day like upset.
Now Steve is calling me and I am mad at him because he took two hours and a half to get ready. I just can't believe it. I don't understand how in the world it takes teo full hours AND A HALF to freakin get ready! It makes me so upset. I can take a shower, brush my teeth, shave my entire freakin body, dry my hair, straighten my haoir, get dressed, do my make up and it takes fourty five minutes. I can't understand!
What the heck is wrong with this kid. I just don't get it! I did not answer my hpone because now he is going to wait for me! This is just unbeleivable, he is waiting for me and i keep typing! i am so bad!

Virus

I woke up this morning with the stomach virus. I was so upset! I felt so dizzy the entire day, when I ate my dinner, which was a bad salad...I threw up. I couldn't believe it. I was sleeping and I woke up with a sudden "LiTT" then I run out of my bed and I tried to make it to the bathroom, guess what? I threw up on the carpet.
I did not make it to the bathroom on time, and so I threw up on the carpet. A brand new carpet. I was so upset, I had a bad headache, and everything.
My entire house woke up because they heard me vomit, I felt so bad for my mom because today is her birthday and she was cleaning my throw up. She saw the entire carpet covered in vomit, and when she saw it i said "Happy Birthday ma!"
Oh my God I felt so bad. My mom is the best! she cleans everything for me, she is completely the best.
Thank god I didn't have work or school. This always happeneds, whenever I have a break or off from school or work, i always get sick!
I do not know what it is maybe i am just meant to be busy.

Pagent

Have you ever been in a pagent? I have been in two beauty pagents. When I was about seventeen years old, I was in an Italian pagent called "Queen Di Constantinople." This is an Italian pagent that is held every year, in June.
My parents put me in the pagent two years ago, and I won First place. Of course, I was in complete shock! I had to send in an essay, which said "what are your goals? What do you want to do with your life? What school do you want to go to? who is your role model?" All of those things.
So i sent in my essay and they picked me to be in the pagent. I represented "Palo Del Cole," which is my town in Italy. I went again fifteen other girls and they all represented their town. When we went to New Jersey, the place the pagent was held. I had to wear an elegant gown and answered a couple of questions, mainly the same questions i had to write about in the essay. There were four judges, in the end they picked one winner, and the winner was me!
I was so proud of myself that i won! I couldn't believe it! Even my parents couldn't believe it!
I always feel that there is always someone better than you! I couldn't believe that I won.
I was crowned Queen and the other girls are princesses.
So last night I went to a dinner dance, at MAESTROS in the Bronx. It was beautiful that they honored me and the quest of honors, who picked me to be the Queen. My boyfriend and my mom was so proud of me! and my brothers and my dad were working, they couldn't come.

LASER HAIR REMOVAL

Are you tired of shaving, waxing or tweezing? Do you find yourself upset because you have a ton of hair and you just want to get rid of it? Laser hair removal, the new and improved technology to removing your un-wanted hair. According to the New York Daily News, on November 12, 2006, “Laser hair removal is the newest trend of the century”. Many people are curious and want to do it.

Many of us look in the mirror and do not want the un-wanted hair on our body, face, back, legs, toes, underarms, you name it! Many people are tired of waxing and then the hairs grow back in two weeks. Others are tired of shaving because the hair comes back with in two days, and tweezing…how far can you go with that?

Laser hair removal technology can solve all of these problems. What actually is Laser hair removal? I for one have done this experiment on my under-arms, and I have lasered many patients because I am a medical assistant and I work for a dermatologist in Douglaston New York.

When you make an appointment for a consult, the person doing the laser will tell you everything you need to know about laser hair removal. The laser is connected to a three foot long wire, which is hooked up to a computer. The head of the laser is about one inch long and one inch wide (square shaped).

When you are put in the laser room, your eyes are completely covered with very dark goggles. You will not be able to see what is going on during the procedure. The person(s) that are doing the laser wear strong sunglasses to protect their eyes from the laser.

Once the goggles are on, an ultra sound gel is put onto the area being lasered. This gel is very cold and helps the laser move smoothly. Once you are set the laser is put on and the procedure begins.

A bunch of consent forms most be signed before the procedure. The reason for one consent form is because there are possible side effects that have to be clarified. Other consent forms protect the person(s) who is doing the procedure.

The laser starts off on a certain level. The level is set according to your skin color, hair color, eye color, and depending on how bad you burn in the sun. After every treatment the level rises to get a better response.

The laser works best on whiter skin and darker hairs. The laser can sense the difference between the dark hairs and the light skin. When a dark person with dark hairs or pale skin with blonde hairs does the treatment, the laser is set at the lowest and slowest level because it has to be extra careful on sensing the difference between the hairs and the skin.

The feeling of the laser is more so of a tiny pinch. It feels like a rubber band snapping at every single hair. You can definitely feel the laser shooting out the hairs one by one. You can even smell a burning smell, which is a smell of the molecule burning.

It is not painful, it is tolerable. The treatment takes anywhere between five minutes to an hour, depending on the area being treated. For instance, if the upper lip is being treated it takes about five minutes. If the underarms are being treated it takes fifteen minutes, if the chest is being treated it takes about a half hour.

It takes about five to seven treatments for the hairs to completely go away. Every session, forty percent of the hairs are completely gone. If you do the math it takes anywhere from five to seven sessions. According to Dr.Osman, she said “it depends how much hair a person has, tells us how many sessions we need to do.”

Many people that are considering laser hair removal ask, “How much is this going to cost me?” Of course since computers and knowledge is involved, it sounds extremely expensive to have laser hair removal. Depending on the amount of hair taken off, adds up the price. For instance Dr.Osman charges two hundred dollars for the upper lip, per session. Remember it takes about five to seven sessions. It is worth is if the average female spends about ten dollars a week to wax their upper lip.

There are not that many disadvantages because this technology is brand new, and has only been out for about ten years. Dr. Blanco said, “Even if there are disadvantages, science is so far advanced that we can fix the difficulty.” Scientist predicts that this can be completely permanent jugging by their studies. Remember, this is an experiment.

Laser hair removal has many advantages. It is definitely worth the money, worth the patience and worth the results. All the patients I have done laser hair removal on are all pleased with their results. The thought of never having to shave, tweeze, or wax ever again is the best thing to hear before going to the beach, or doing any kind of activity that shows skin.

cheating

I just finshed reading Prof. Marsh's blog on Cheating. When I read the REMINDERS AND NOTICES page, at the bottom I saw a blog about "cheating." When I first read that I tought to myself... "oh my god, Prof. Marsh is an english teacher, adviosly he knows when someone is plagasing and writing things that are not true. I mean the first couple of days of school, when he coaught one of my classmates copying from wyecipedia( I don't know how to spell it), I was amazed how he just copied from the students blog and pasted it onto google. That amazed me, and I found it so funny, I had to tell everyine in my family and at work, it was a warning to be honest. So someone made believe that they interviewed someone. I mean honestly, why would you do somthing "FAKE" in this class? Prof. Marsh is extremely intellegent, or maybe he just has this talent and he can tell when someone is lying, cheating, and stealing. I would never do that in this class, I mean that is just too odvious to "FAKE" something.

Going on a diet.

To me, I think going on a diet is not hard. I have been dieting so much and I love it. I love my body and I love to take care of it.
You know I am Italian and in my family there is no such thing as eating there's such thing as "Mange Mange" Which is Italian for Eat!! eat! Oh god, when ever I go to my relatives house, or forget it, when I go to my boyfriends house, everyone is eating. In my house and my boyfriend's house the refrigerator is completely full! Wait until you see the pantry (I call it a pantry, its the place you put all of the junk food) Oh my god though! It is crazy how much junk is there.
My boyfriend works in a pizzeria and he brings home two pies per week. It is crazy how much pizza we all eat.
You know I can't understand, his sister is so big. I mean she is huge! She is my age and I bet she weights at least two hundred maybe even two hundred and fifty pounds. I am honestly more than half the size of her. I weigh one twenty. And I am a size three in pants.
I can not understand when I go to these parties how terrible everyone eats. It makes my stomach turn. They eat anti-pasta, which is cheese, ham, etc. Then soup, then pasta, then meat, then fruit, then desert. I mean they eat all day! I can't understand! If I eat the soup I'll be good for the day.
You know what I hate the most! It is when I do not eat and they tell me "oh, if you diet your hair is going to fall out, your going to get sick, blah blah blah. Like they know what they are talking about. It makes me so sick to see people stuff their face in. Especially the way my boyfriend's sister eats! It's terrible. Some people really need to diet! I mean the population is getting fatter and fatter. I need to write a book.

In Class

Right now I am in my Philosohy class. And he is a good teacher, however the class is a three hour long class. He is a great teacher...but half way through the class everyone starts to fall asleep. He gives great examples in class. It is a philosophy class which involoves a lot of thinking. Right now we are talking about having power and "worth." He said is worth about economics. Why do we care how much you are worth. If you are looking for a future why is money involved? The abilty to fulfill your desires in the contented life. I can fix what happeneds a week from now, good or bad. The more people that respect me will fallow me and do something something something. I don't have a clue I am just taking notes. Anyways, I am tall and he is in the kitchen and they are cooking and he has to get soemthing from the top shelf and he can get it. this is a form of power. Goods, what ever is on the top shelf is good. We need them we have a lack for them. The fact that I am tall I can get it. Whatever, big deal. What am I thinking about?
why does St.Johns have these lame classes, what am I learning...more and more history. Does is matter? My pen just ran out of ink. I bet its a sign for don't take notes because it is not worth it. Good luck and la dee daa. Now my foot fell asleep. I can't believe I have been in this class for only one hour and there are two hours to go. Atleats I wrote my paper. They want to use my power to get certain good. Wow today i am participating a lot.

Laser hair removal (change)

Are you tired of shaving, waxing or tweezing? Do you find yourself upset because you have a ton of hair and you just want to get rid of it? Laser hair removal, the new and improved technology to removing your un-wanted hair. According to the New York Daily News, on November 12, 2006, Laser hair removal is the newest trend of the century. Many people are curious and want to do it.
Many of us look in the mirror and do not want the un-wanted hair on our body, face, back, legs, toes, underarms, you name it! Many people tried from waxing and the hair grows back in two weeks. Others try shaving and the hair comes back in two days, and tweezing…how far can you go with that?
Laser hair removal technology can solve all of these problems. So what actually is Laser hair removal? I for one have done this experiment on my under-arms, and I have lasered many patients because I am a medical assistant and I work for a dermatologist.
When you make an appointment for a consult, the person doing the laser will tell you everything you need to know about laser hair removal. The laser is connected to a three foot long wire, which is hooked up to a computer. The head of the laser is about one inch long and one inch wide (square shaped).
When you are put in the room, your eyes are completely covered with very dark goggles.
The reason for one consent form is because there are possible side effects. One side effect is bruising or burning, I have never seen anyone bruised, but I have seen some one get burned.
The laser starts off on a certain level. The level is set according to your skin color, hair color, eye color, and depending on how bad you burn in the sun. After every treatment the level rises to get a better response, each treatment.
The laser works best on whiter skin and darker hairs. The laser can sense the difference between the dark hairs and the light skin. When a darker person with darker hairs does the treatment, the laser is set at the lowest, slowest level because it has to be extra careful. The laser also can get confused when it senses pale skin with blonde hairs.
The feeling of the laser is more so of a tiny pinch. It feels like a rubber band snapping at every single hair. You can definitely feel the laser shooting out the hairs one by one. You can even smell a burning smell, which is a smell of the burning of the molecule. Many patients tolerate the pain because “You have to suffer to be beautiful.”
It is not painful, it is tolerable. The treatment takes about five to ten minutes, depending on the area being treated. For instance, if the upper lip is being treated it takes about five minutes. If the underarms are being treated if takes fifteen minutes for each underarm. If the chest is being treated it takes about a half hour.
Is this permanent? This is the question everyone asks about laser hair removal. It takes about five to seven treatments for the hairs to completely go away. Every session, forty percent of the hairs are completely gone. If you do the math it takes anywhere from five to seven treatments.
“How much does is this going to cost me?” Of course since computers and knowledge is involved, it sounds extremely expensive to have laser hair removal. Depending on the amount of hair taken off, adds up the price. For instance Dr.Osman charges two hundred dollars for the upper lip, per session. It cost about three hundred dollars for the upper leg, per session. Remember it takes about five to seven sessions.
There are not that many disadvantages because this technology is brand new, and has only been out for about five years. Scientist predicts that this can be completely permanent jugging by their studies. Remember this is an experiment.
Laser hair removal has many advantages. It is definitely worth the money, worth the patients and worth the results. All the people I have done laser hair removal on are all very happy with their results. The thought of never having to shave, tweeze, or wax ever again is the best thing to hear before going to the beach, or doing any kind of activity that shows skin.

When I went to Italy we took this picture outside of " Club JuBile" It was the best club I have ever been to in my life! It had three floors and it was out doors, on the water. I miss them so much! Hopefully I cant go to Italy to see them this summer. ♥

PIGS!

I just got my first ticket! these pigs (cops) came to my house and gave me a ticket! What a bunch of jerks!
I parked in my driveway, which blocked off the sidewalk, but you can still walk on my side walk!
I parked my car at 12 midnight there because I knew I had to go to school at 6:30AM. This is unbelievable! I would of never thought I would get a ticket at 5:30AM!
I just missed them by an hour! This is unbelievable! Why can't I park on MYYYY side walk??
I clean it, I shovel it..So why can't I park in it? I am going to fight this ticket! This is crazy! There is so much snow on the ground that I rather park in my sidewalk then in the middle of the street! And plus there was so much ice on the sidewalks when I was walking to work..People don't even clean their sidewalks! How come they don't get a ticket? Sorry but I am not paying for this ticket!
This is crazy, I save up all my money for myself and I have to pay the government! You know they take half of my paycheck, and now they want to take even more! I am so upset!
I will admit, I have picture of me parking REALLY bad, even when I am in St.Johns I park on the line, in two spots, REALLYY baD! But come on in front of my house? They have to be kidding!
This really upsets me! I hate cops! Their a bunch of pigs!

Studying

I hate studying! I have to get my act together and study. I just can't stand it. I never read so much junk in my life. Everything I read last semester and was tested on I already forgot!
You know what I hate most about an exam? I study so much and then when I get the test I do bad, because the professor these to throw in curve balls. I hate that! I hate test! And I hate studying!
I feel like I should study but it's just sooooooo much work! And when I study then get the test its so tricky! I feel like saying whats the point of me studying?
I took a test Monday in science! Wow that was the worse test ever! I definitely do not want it back. I probably got a 25 on it! I no I did bad because it confused me! I was so confused. Everything that was on the review sheet was like two or three words to define a word but on the test it was one word. It was so hard! I just took a theology test and there were 100 Questions on it! fifty questions were true false. And yes there were so many curve balls I got so mad and just put everything as true, true, straight down!
I can't stand test! thank god they give extra credit assignments. I rather do an extra credit assignment then do a test. At least there is a break coming soon. But before the break...guess what! We have a bunch of mid-terms! Can school be anymore ANNOYING?

AThena The Great Greek =P

I have so many friends. I honestly do not consider all of them friends...I consider them ALL to be best friends. I do not put my friends in any kind of category, I find that unfair. I mite consider someone my "friend" but they mite consider me to be their "Best Friend."
That can make a person feel bad. Some people have three best friends and everyone else is just an associate and the rest are enemies. I never had an enemy, or got into a fight with anyone. I honestly think I am the nicest, sweetes person there is! It is because I grew up with "be good to other's as they would be good to you." I think everyone saids it, so I am not going to quote it after anyone and put it in my commonplace book.
So today I went to my best friends house. Her name is Athena. HA! she is not Greek, but I call her "Athena the great Greek" because she is not Greek. And she calls me Miss. Italia! Athena is such a sweet heart, we have been friends since sixth grade. So yes that is over seven years. It went by so fast. Since I have no time and neither does she, we both made time to see each other today. It was great!
We are so much fun. I remember growing up fellow peers were jealous that we were best friends and did everything together. We laughed at everything!! And we even had our own words.
"CONGAR" Is the funniest word we ever made up! Everyone of our friends say it...but it sounds so funny coming from my mouth or Athena's mouth.
We say "CONGAR" in every situation... Such as...
"You want to go to the mall?" and I would say "YEAH CONGAR!"
or "Wow hes HOT!" and she would say "yeah Congar!"
the best part is when we would say it and people will say "what's a congar?"
HAHHAHAHA! that would have us pee our pants!
then since everyone kept saying Congar, we started saying "F*** THAT!"
HAHAHAHAHA!
for example I would say "you want to go to school today?" and Athena would say "F*** THAT!"
or "should I stop at this stop sign" and Athena would say " NO! FU** That!"
Then after a while we combined "CONGAR!!! F*** THAT!"
such as.... "Steve and I got into a fight" and Athena would say "CONGAR! F*** THAT!"
this has been going on for so long and I still laugh when I hear it!

ANNOYING!!

annoying!! The word of the day! It is about eight o'clock at night and you have to know how annoying my day was today!
OK so I wake up today, and my alarm clock did not go off. So I woke up fifteen minutes late! That is so bad! I woke up late for work one time because my phone freezes. OK so I woke up annoyed at my phone. Then I go to my first class and I told the teacher that the test we took the other day was too hard! and others said it was fair! That is really annoying! Then I go to Prof. Marsh's office and I find out that theres a report due and I didn't start and I didn't know that there was no class! Annoying! I have a report to due now! (don't worry Prof. I am not mad at you!) =D
then I go to my college professor and he annoyed me because he didn't know what he was talking about. I waited an hour and a half for my next class and then I find out it's cancelled! That is freakin annoying! I could of been home at 8:30 and I got home at 10! That's annoying. Then I get into an argument with my boyfriend..ANNOYING! Then I come home to take a nap...and as I am sleeping my job calls me! Oh My God that is annoying!! Waking up to hear my bosses voice! Oh and then I started my report...it had to be 800-1000 words. I got to 300 words and I didn't know what else to write! I was getting so annoyed!
Well my day is not over yet...but I hope no one annoyes me!
